Becoming a Changemaker W12

This course is almost coming to an end. It's sad, but there is a lot that I've learned about, especially this week. Becoming a change maker: Jesus was someone that will always watch out for his people and others that did not follow him, he made a change in the world.

This week I've learned from Google professionals that we can all make a difference in the world and make our entrepreneurism a better solution to all humankind. Big companies like Nike, Google, Apple, etc., have motivated people with their motto.

When we think of becoming an entrepreneur, we need to thing in changing the world, in understanding people’s needs and make it a necessity to buy your product. Great church leaders have taught us to never give up in pursuing our dreams, but most of all to help others and think on Jesus, what would he do?

I’ve always wanted to make a difference in my community, starting with my family, that is why I decided to serve a mission and help others that needed spiritual help, there are people that are ill, but have a great heart and hope that someday they will get heal. Becoming an entrepreneur can help our lives and the lives of others, but if we put God first.

Measuring the Cost: Life Balance W11

Life balance!

This week has been great in learning how to balance your life as an entrepreneur. We had a few case studies about managing work vs. family. One was about your daughter’s recital vs. having your largest customer calling you for an emergency and would not want anyone else to be there but you. It puts you to think because as an entrepreneur: customer satisfaction comes first, but when your family is involved in your daily tasks, what would you chose? In my opinion, family comes first since God has stablished it like that, where we have made covenants to have an eternal family. Now, customers as well are someone that are providing us money in order to bring food to the table. It is just a matter of balancing priorities and making right decision at the moment.

We learned from an Entrepreneur this: “Pay attention to what’s important” – Randy Kosimar, as he states also, “being a CEO, is hard to keep a balance”. But, as we also reviewed this week in another motivating entrepreneur, Corey Bell, “Everything is possible if you want it!” So, there are many life balancing experiences throughout our entrepreneur life, it’s on us to make the right decision at the right time.

What a great lesson we have learned this week. Now, time to put it into practice.

Draming Big Dreams W10

This week has been great as the past weeks, but there is something particular about this week: Dreaming Big Dream!

For the past two weeks, we've been preparing ourselves to have an interview with an entrepreneur. This week I had the chance to interview my own father, who has been an entrepreneur almost all his life. I learned that I needed to dream big and never stop dreaming, always pursue our dreams.

In order to be an entrepreneur, I need to have values, have a background that’s suitable for what I want to do.

From a video we watched this week, Kathy Huber, which is an entrepreneur had some difficulties being the minority among men. What did this mean, sometimes, we have to be good at something to stick out and get away for the stereotyping. Some industries may not be for a particular gender, if there are a few of our kind, we need to dream big and succeed showing people that we can do the job.

Other video we watched was about Googlers having their time during work to be able to create something and input it into Google. I feel a big company that allows employees to express their ideas, is a company that will have success.

I really enjoyed this week!

DISCIPLE LEADERSHIP W9

This week I’ve learned about being a leader. From when I started a program (Pathway) that got me into BYU-I, I learned to be a leader a few times I had to teach the class. I know that being in BYU-I, I can get to be a leader, since it is a Disciple Preparation Center.  Throughout my life I’ve been put into positions of leadership, at church I’ve worked with young women that are in need of help. It was once promised to me that if I help the youth of the world many blessings would come to my life. I know it’s true, and that promises do exist when you do what the Lord commands.

In a company being a leader does not imply to tell your workers what to do, a great leader is the one that will sit and teach workers how to do the things to be a successful company. I learned this week that big companies like a well-recognized company like Gillette has been successful because it has 3 things: Disciplined People, Disciplined Thought, and Discipline Action. We can learn and put into practice in order to succeed we can apply these 3 key points.

I am grateful for each opportunity we get in our life to help other and find rescue in other’s words.
